Hello! My name is Candice and I love helping children, adolescents and their families. Over the course of my 20+ year career, I have utilized my degrees in Special Education, School Counseling and Mental Health Counseling to help others explore struggles and barriers, as well as celebrate personal successes in a warm and supportive environment.
My approach is really driven by what you are looking for, and what your goals are. However, I typically use a combination of solution-focused, strengths-based, cognitive behavioral, DBT, and existential approaches.
My passion is helping kids with special needs and their families navigate their way through challenges and to support them on their unique journey. I have the professional knowledge and credentials, and the personal experience of raising a child with special needs, so my desire to help others runs deep.
A fun fact about me: I have a therapy dog, Winnie, who is a golden retriever, and who loves to join sessions (only if the client desires her to join). The benefits of animal-assisted therapy have been researched, and much of the evidence points to the many benefits of animal-assisted therapy. Some of the health benefits of animal-assisted therapy include: Improved focus and attention, reduced anxiety and isolation, increased self-esteem, increased trust, empathy and teamwork. If having Winnie present for your appointment is something that interests you, be sure to share that with me so I can bring her to our appointment. I look forward to working with you!
